Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data GenusJagd ("the App", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your data. GenusJagd is a mobile application that helps users practice German noun articles (der/die/das).

1. What data we collect

• Account data: your email address and password (the password is never stored in readable form — it is handled and hashed by our authentication provider, Supabase Auth).
• Google Sign-In data: if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email address to create or match your account. We do not request or store any other data from your Google profile.
• Quiz activity: your quiz sessions and answers (which words you answered correctly or incorrectly, and when), so we can show you your history and progress.
• Purchase status: whether you have purchased access to a paid tier, which tier, and until when it remains valid, managed through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat.
• Language preference: your chosen display language is stored only on your device and is never sent to our servers.

We do not collect your name, phone number, precise location, contacts, or any data beyond what is listed above. We do not display advertising and do not sell your data to anyone.

2. Why we collect this data

We process this data to provide the core functionality of the App: letting you log in securely, tracking your quiz progress, and managing your subscription. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract between you and us (i.e., providing you the service you signed up for).

3. Third-party services we use

We rely on the following processors to operate the App. Each only receives the minimum data necessary to perform its function:

• Supabase (database, authentication) — data is hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
• RevenueCat — manages purchase/access status and links your purchases to your account.
• Google Play Billing — processes one-time purchases for paid tiers. We never see or store your payment card details.
• Resend — used to deliver transactional emails (e.g., password reset codes).

4. Data retention

We retain your account data and quiz history for as long as your account is active. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, you can submit a deletion request from within the App (Profile → Account), or by contacting us at the email address above. We process deletion requests within 30 days of submission.

5. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format

If you are in the EU and believe your data protection rights have been violated, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g., the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, NAIH).

6. Security

Access to your data is protected using database-level security rules (Row Level Security), meaning you can only ever access your own data, never another user's. All data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

7. Children's privacy

GenusJagd is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below this age.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
